10 Years of AIM

Posted: July 16th, 2009 | Author: LETHAL | Filed under: Logo Design, Branding | Tags: AIM, Association of Independent Music | No Comments »

We were asked to update the AIM logo and incorporate this into a 10th anniversary logo. Due to the AIM logo’s irregular shape, we decided to incorporate the ‘10th anniversary’ part into the main logo. Emphasizing AIM’s wealth of experience, but without compromising their well-established brand, we simply softened the original logo, freshened up the colours & font and boosted their existing logotype to the power of 10. This was then applied to several different formats for the AIM AGM & 10th Anniversary Party. We also designed the invitation, which was printed with a gold metallic ink.

The BritBus Tour

Posted: May 12th, 2009 | Author: LETHAL | Filed under: Logo Design, Branding | Tags: britbus | No Comments »

The BritBus toured the UK from May-June, showcasing the hottest new unsigned bands. The bands played from the top open deck of the bus, as well as in various venues. The tour was sponsored by Guitar Hero and gave members of the public the chance to play on the bus gaming system to compete for the chance to take their band on the next tour.

We designed the bus as a larger-than-life flight case, as seen on all music tours and live stages worldwide. Difficult to ignore, it inevitably helped to promote the tour throughout the UK, along with additional promo materials such as posters, flyers, T-Shirts, stickers & even condoms.

So far, the success of BritBus has led to plans for tours of the US, Australia & India…

London Connected

Posted: April 21st, 2008 | Author: LETHAL | Filed under: Logo Design, Branding, Promotional Campaign | Tags: AIM, London Connected, London Development Agency | No Comments »

London Connected is a new skills and business development programme designed to help London’s music businesses and entrepreneurs maximise the opportunities presented by digital technologies. Lethal were appointed to oversee the design and branding for this impressive new initiative.

We decided to create a logotype which fluidly connected the two words and emphasised the core message as we saw it - Empowerment -  almost like the kind of logotype you’d expect to see on a battery. Supporting campaign imagery was inspired by car radio interface graphics, producing an original and refreshing rendition of the London skyline.

Lara Baker at AIM says: “As a skills and business development programme focusing on digital music, London Connected required a logo & brand identity that conveyed innovation, creativity and a certain level of ‘coolness’. We wanted the logo to attract creative and entrepreneurial people to London Connected, and the solution Lethal designed will certainly help us do that.”

The programme is managed and delivered by the Association of Independent Music (AIM) supported by the London Development Agency (the LDA).

Pro Street Romania website

Posted: November 21st, 2007 | Author: LETHAL | Filed under: Online, Viral | Tags: Lee and Dan, Pro Street Romania | No Comments »

Master viral film makers Lee and Dan were commissioned by Electronic Arts to produce an under-the-radar promotional campaign for their forthcoming video game release, Need For Speed Pro Street. They embarked upon an audacious plan to spoof the cult of ‘boy racer’ on a whole new level, creating a fictitious sub-culture in backstreet Bucharest where local scallywags Marek and Dragos compete for the status of Pro Street King.

Legends in their own town, nobody knows they are secretly inspired by excessive late-night sessions playing Need For Speed on their chipped black-market Playstation.

To heighten the sense of realism and confuse the online community as much as possible, this concept was executed as a viral film posted on a webpage that looked as though the Romanian racers had published it themselves - and they chose Lethal to create it for them. No product branding at all was incorporated into the campaign, encouraging site visitors to speculate and engage in online rumour-mongering until the cat was eventually let out of the bag.

It’s not often we’re asked to design things badly, but this was one brief we were never going to turn down. Hats off to the hilarious vision of Lee and Dan.

Rebranding PPL

Posted: April 26th, 2006 | Author: LETHAL | Filed under: Logo Design, Branding | Tags: Phonographic Performance Ltd, PPL | No Comments »

PPL (Phonographic Performance Ltd) is a royalty collection society, which collects and distributes revenue on behalf of artists/performers. Any commercial business or service that broadcasts recorded music to a public audience requires a PPL licence in the UK.

Our mission in revamping their identity was to offer some insight into PPL’s responsibilities and help to update their image.

We chose to incorporate recognised iconography synonymous with recorded music, namely the ‘play’ and ‘record’ buttons found on everyday stero equipment.

These icons represent what PPL enables businesses to do: play recorded music responsibly.
